DVLA announces a change to Tachograph driver card processes.
When drivers apply to exchange their digital tachograph driver card for a change of address or to replace a lost or stolen card, the Driver and Vehicle Licensing Agency (DVLA) has, until now, sent the new card to a local office or Goods Vehicle Testing Station for collection. This is now changing. From 1 September 2011, cards will no longer be sent to a nominated collection point, instead they will be sent directly to the driver’s home address.
Please note that the driver card will be sent to the home address that DVLA has for the driver at the time of the application. When the card is received, drivers must complete a declaration to confirm they have received the new card and return it to DVLA in the pre-paid envelope provided. If a driver has applied to exchange a card, the old card must be returned with the declaration letter; failure to do so could incur a penalty.
