KBR FTX COMPLETE THE FOUR DAY NIJMEGEN MARCH

On Tuesday 19th July 2011 a team of 11 Sponsored Reserves from KBR FTX Logistics Ltd took part in the 95th International Four day March held around villages and towns around Nijmegen in Holland.

The march takes place every year and is attended by approximately 45000 participants; Military and civilian globally with various distances that teams and individuals can undertake.

The FTX team undertook a gruelling 50km walk per day over the four days, walking in all manners of weather, one comment made after walking in the rain was like having ‘trench foot’.Nijmegan 4th Day

This is the second time a team from FTX Logistics has undertaken this event, the first time back in 2009. Two of the original team also took part this year. Needless to say it did not feel any easier. On both occasions the team have raised money for the Army Benevolent Fund (ABF)– the soldiers charity.

The ABF– The soldiers charity is an organisation that is close to the hearts of the Sponsored Reserves who themselves are Class 3 Territorial Army and work along side the regular army at Bulford (Wiltshire) and Fallingbostel (Germany); also doing their share of Operational Deployments to Afghanistan and previously Iraq.

After four days of walking approximately 12 hours a day the team were elated and relieved to cross that finish line at Nijmegen at 5pm on Friday 22nd July.

It is hoped that collectively the team has raised £4,000 and are already talking arranging another walk at the next Nijmegen March.
